Adam Moryto is a Canadian venture capital investor, actor, YouTuber, professional fisherman, and children’s book author, though the title he is most proud of is simply “Dad.”

Originally from Aurora, Ontario, Adam graduated from St. Andrew’s College before earning a BA in Sociology from Western University.

His love of the ocean began more than thirty years ago in Barbados, where he spent childhood afternoons fishing with his grandfather, Milos, from small skiffs for reef fish and blackfin tuna. Those early days on the water sparked a lifelong passion for the sea that would eventually grow into both a profession and a creative calling.

Today, Adam is the creator and host of On The Line with Adam Moryto, a global catch-clean-cook YouTube channel featuring rare fish, innovative fishing techniques, and cuisine from beautiful destinations around the world.

Many of the ocean settings that inspired The Sassy Snapper are drawn directly from the waters he still fishes around Barbados.

The inspiration for The Sassy Snapper came from a life-changing moment in February 2024, when Adam’s daughter, Haven, experienced a febrile seizure during a record snowstorm in Toronto. In that frightening moment, her calm bravery revealed courage in its purest form — and reminded him how fragile, precious, and powerful young life can be. That life-changing day, combined with his love of the ocean and deep-sea fish, sparked the creation of Sassy Snapper — a brave, spirited, and beautiful fish inspired by Haven herself.

Adam currently lives in Barbados with his wife, Caitlin, their daughter, Haven, their cherished nanny, Sarah, and their Savannah cat, Oshi.
